As a result of the accident, safety achieved a much higher priority in that country. WebFlixborough was not the first serious accident to occur in the process industries during the 60’s and 70’s. It did however result in a step change in the consideration of Process Safety and introduced changes which are still relevant 40 years later. Interest in Process Safety had started before 1974.
